The 31st Judicial Circuit Commission (Greene County) is accepting applications for an associate circuit judge vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Jason R. Brown to the circuit bench. Applications must be received by 5 p.m., September 9, 2015.

Citizens are encouraged to nominate well-qualified candidates for the Commission’s consideration. The Missouri Constitution, Article V, Section 21, requires that an Associate Circuit Judge be at least twenty-five years old, licensed to practice law in Missouri, a citizen of the United States for at least ten years, a qualified voter of Missouri for the three years preceding selection, and a resident of the 31st Judicial Circuit for at least one year. The commission will decide at a later date how many applicants will be interviewed. The commission will conduct public interviews on September 24 and 25, 2015, if necessary, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on each date. The commission will then select a panel of three nominees for the vacancy from the applicants who will be interviewed. Thereafter, Governor Nixon will have 60 days to appoint one of the three nominees as the associate circuit judge.

Members of the commission are Mary W. Sheffield, chief judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District; attorneys Steven B. Garner and Andrew K. Bennett; and lay members Steven Stepp and Joann Hosmer.
