Background

Judge Farragut-Hemphill was appointed circuit judge Nov. 19, 2014. She was previously appointed associate circuit judge March 13, 1991.

Judge Farragut-Hemphill received her B.S. from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her J.D. from the University of Florida School of Law.

From 1979 through 1981, Judge Farragut-Hemphill worked at the Jacksonville Legal Aid Society. In 1982, she moved to St. Louis and was admitted to the Missouri Bar and the United States District Court, Eastern District of Missouri. Judge Farragut-Hemphill was a staff attorney at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri from 1983 through 1986. She served as an assistant county counselor for St. Louis County from 1986 until 1988. From 1988 until her appointment to the bench, Judge Farragut-Hemphill was a partner at the law firm, Cahill, White and Hemphill. In addition, she served as an adjunct professor for the Washington University School of Law and St. Louis University School of Law.
