Background

Judge Gregory B. Gillis was appointed associate circuit judge in April 2001. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Judge Gillis was formerly an assistant prosecuting attorney for Jackson County and a Drug Court commissioner for the 16th Judicial Circuit. He has received assignments in the adult abuse docket, civil case docket, collections docket and Missouri Department of Revenue drivers docket, as well as uncontested domestic relations cases, landlord-tenant cases and small claims cases.

Judge Gillis is a member and former historian of the Missouri Association of Probate and Associate Circuit-Member of the Board of Directors. He is also a member of The Missouri Bar, The Kansas Bar, the Jackson County Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He belongs to the St. Thomas More Parish and contributes to Lawyers Emphasizing Academic Performance (LEAP).
